There’s nothing democratic about billionaires selling expensive trips into space. And aside from sex and race discrimination which was country wide a not a NASA-specific issue, the space program was vetting for people who could do the dangerous job assigned and not get killed.

Make no mistake—any tech advances whether by government or private entities are good. And perhaps prices for private space trips will come down. But none of that is about freedom.

Keep in mind, except for a very small number of companies—usually employee owned—private companies are dictatorships who can and typically do fire people at will. If you exercise any freedom whatsoever—that’s insubordination.

So enjoy space flight and technology and be impressed by advances. But don’t romanticize beyond what is actually happening.

Look at how Amazon treats employees. Do you think he’s a champion of freedom? Look at how he whines when his multi-billion dollar subsidies from NASA are threatened. Bezos is a grifter, not a freedom fighter.
