I feel like our movement is on the right track, but we still haven’t gotten to the starting gate. Are you a core Saner? Are YOU one of the original prime movers who will spark the actions that will save our species from self-created disaster?
Sometimes you just need to throw a lot of stuff against the wall before something sticks. In the business world, that’s the motto of fail bigger and fail faster. I don’t know what the motto is for a movement like the Saners. The Saners is a group I founded, dedicated to preventing climate collapse through active non-cooperation (something like Gandhi’s satayagraha), and to replace our doomed “civilization” with a sane one that cares about humans and Nature.
We know that non-violent movements can be very successful — because this has happened repeatedly throughout history. We are trying hard to follow the successful path blazed by our predecessors.
Like other successful movements, we have formidable forces aligned against us. But right now, it’s our own inability to mobilize ourselves and make our presence visible and felt that’s holding us back.
Our opponents are vulnerable, but we are still not taking focused and effective action. Some of this is not knowing exactly what to do.
