This article is a good one. The Constitution is not sacred. It is deeply flawed and reflects the shortcomings of its authors.

We should take no law or Constitution as sacred. As human beings, we must make moral judgements and both laws and Constitutions can and do violate morals — and, in those instances, should be disobeyed.

The Constitution has flaws but it also has merits. It attempts to limit the power of government abuse. It creates a system to allow private citizens to participate in government. It provides a method to have a peaceful transfer of power and a temporary head of state.

That we have outsmarted many of these processes and rules in the Constitution does not make their attempt a dishonorable one.

Accepting slavery was evil. Attempting to protect free speech was honorable.

The founders were not a monolithic group of like-minded people. They disagreed fiercely on many things. The Constitution they wrote was a compromised document.

We must decide what is right and what is wrong. And, when possible, fight to change the Constitution and the law to bring them into closer accord with what is right.
