This is a false choice. We must live without them. Failure to do so is death. We HAD the chance for an easier transition but we failed. We had patience with failed leaders who had no intention of every giving up fossil fuels. Now, we will pay the price one way or another.

Either give up fossil fuels and suffer all that entails. Or fail to do so, and permanently destroy the habitability of the Earth. The former is awful but offers the possibility of a future. The latter is complete surrender to universal death.

Sorry the choices are so grim. Hey, here in America, WE chose a president in 2000 who was an passionate climate activist. But we were overruled by a partisan SCOTUS who selected a fossil fuel patron. Now we are living with the inevitable result.
