This sort of reminds me of how the tobacco industry explained to us that we can't attribute any specific case of lung cancer to cigarettes...and therefore shouldn't do anything about the problem.

That there's some false info going around about plastic is a terrible excuse to continue what we are doing about it—which is nothing at all.
