Throwing Oil on Wildfires as America Suffers Nationwide Drought

Why the eff are we even talking about politicians?

On page 20 of yesterday’s New York Times, we learn that 48 out of 50 States are in drought. So, of course, very few Americans know this and even fewer care.

Now some people do care about the wildfires in California, which forced thousands to flee. That story made the front page.

Right this moment, I am at home in Philadelphia, breathing acrid dangerous air, poisoned by a wildfire in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.

Our planet is dying. We are helping people murder it. We are working for people who are destroying everything we love for their personal wealth and power.

They are fools. There is no “winning” on a dead planet.

In the United States, the biggest climate bill in history contained a poison pill—opening up vast new areas of public lands to Big Oil climate abusers. The incoming administration is planning to expand the abuse, to give the planet destroyers a free hand to complete their work.

They are throwing oil on the wildfires of mass death, of mass extinction, of the permanent poisoning of our children’s Earth.

That’s insane. But we can stop them. Not at the ballot box. We can stop them with nonviolent noncooperation.

But at the moment, we aren’t just helplessly watching powerful people commit this atrocity. We are committing this atrocity for them. Now, admittedly we are doing it under some pressure, some compulsion. There are systems in place to ensure our obedience.

These systems exist everywhere, not just in the United States. People serve elites in every country in the world..in the United States, in Russia, in China, everywhere.

But we can slow down, we can make mistakes, we can call in sick, and we can build up to a FULL STOP. We can stop extracting fossil fuels, we can stop refining them, we can stop buying them and stop burning them. WE are the only source of power for those deadly morons who have been making the decisions. Without our active support, without US doing their dirty work, they are helpless and powerless.

Our planet is already grievously damaged. We’ve been obedient for far too long. But we can end that now. We can’t make our planet what it once was, but we can limit the damage. And we can look up from our smartphones, talk to our neighbors, rebuild our communities, and take constructive action to replace the ridiculous shitshow we live in, this fake “civilization”, with a sane, caring society that respects Nature and values Life.

We’ve started. Together, WE are the way. Read about our group, The Saners, at WeAreSaners.org. Sign up and join at WeAreSaners.org/join.
