Throwing Oil on Wildfires as America Suffers Nationwide Drought
Why the eff are we even talking about politicians?
On page 20 of yesterday’s New York Times, we learn that 48 out of 50 States are in drought. So, of course, very few Americans know this and even fewer care.
Now some people do care about the wildfires in California, which forced thousands to flee. That story made the front page.
Right this moment, I am at home in Philadelphia, breathing acrid dangerous air, poisoned by a wildfire in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
Our planet is dying. We are helping people murder it. We are working for people who are destroying everything we love for their personal wealth and power.
They are fools. There is no “winning” on a dead planet.
In the United States, the biggest climate bill in history contained a poison pill—opening up vast new areas of public lands to Big Oil climate abusers. The incoming administration is planning to expand the abuse, to give the planet destroyers a free hand to complete their work.
They are throwing oil on the wildfires of mass death, of mass extinction, of the permanent poisoning of our children’s Earth.
That’s insane. But we can stop them. Not at the ballot box. We can stop them with nonviolent…
