Today’s Young People — Including Kids — Are The Real Greatest Generation

I think there’s something wrong with the values of people who label a generation that fought a bloody war — even against an evil opponent — “the greatest generation.” They did what was necessary, but war is — at best — a necessary evil. It is not “great” or anything to be proud of.

I think greatness is determined by what good you did, and what efforts you made to do good. By that measure, the generation that came of age in the 1960s would be a great generation — they resisted the Vietnam war. That generation identified war as evil, not glorious or patriotic. And, although the veneer of patriotism has returned to war, it’s never been the same. The hated and derided “dirty hippies” who protested have forever stained the reputations of the suit-wearing authorities who drafted them and sent them halfway around the world to die — for nothing.

A truly great generation takes the initiative to do great things. The greatest generation is the one emerging right now.

The nominally respectable suit-wearing authorities are still here. But young people have exposed their record of massive fraud and failure. The gun-protecting climate-abusing wealth-stealing authorities worldwide are doing their dirty work with a spotlight on them. And, although they are — for the moment — still…
