To effectively protect the planet and stabilize the climate, we need to make the quickest and sharpest U-Turn in history.

My position as a Saner (please see WeAreSaners.org) with respect to addressing the climate crisis is simple and unambiguous: put climate scientists in charge. I’m determined to make that happen and once that does, I will fully support their plan with everything I’ve got.

That said, I do tend to speculate on what their plan could, and perhaps should, look like.

We know that it’s obligatory to slash fossil fuel use, and CO2 emissions overall. We know that time is short because we wasted decades; leaders everywhere chose to INCREASE the production and use of oil and other deadly substances.

Now our Earth is at Code Red.

Clean Energy and Carbon Capture: Perhaps Useful But Slow

I’ve seen the ideas of techno-optimists. And it’s absolutely true that clean energy can and will play a critical part of our society going forward. It’s also clear that we failed to scale up the use of alternative energy sufficiently and — more importantly — to phase out fossil fuels.
