This could be the kick off for a worldwide grassroots tsunami to prevent climate collapse and replace our really stupid, greedy, insane civilization with a workable loving one.
Well, I don’t consider anybody who’s trying to improve the world through nonviolent noncooperation a competitor to our group, The Saners. I welcome them as friends.
That’s my feeling about General Strike US.
Currently most visible as a website and a Discord group, this effort was created by some serious experienced and wise organizers who are tired of us wasting our time on ineffective methods to spark change. We all know that voting and various protests have failed—repeatedly.
We also know, when we think about it, that WE do all the work and that any thugs, dictators, plutocrats, authoritarian parties or any other assholes have ZERO power without our active cooperation.
This isn’t my idea. This is the reality, a truth discovered by Gandhi, King and thousands of others throughout history who promoted nonviolent noncooperation to protect human rights and to assert the power of people over would-be tyrants.
This is the idea that animates OUR movement, The Saners. And others who are becoming visible now.
Why I’m Excited About THIS Group and Project
Our group, The Saners, is designed to be an ongoing broad-based and worldwide movement. General Strike is focused on a single action in the United States—but a meaningful one that would awaken people everywhere to HOW WE CAN EFFECTIVELY ASSERT OUR POWER.
Yes, this is a movement focused only on the United States. But weakening totalitarianism here would weaken it everywhere. It would weaken Viktor Orban, Benjamin Netanyahu, Vladimir Putin and many, many other dangerous figures.
It would turn those individuals from a dangerous force that threatens millions and even billions of people—to a group of impotent old men who are a decade or two from death and ignonimity. Which is what they actually are.
