I’m not missing in action. I’m working to make this work.
I’m a tiny bit worried that people who have signed up for the movement The Saners, and people who follow me on Medium, may lose faith. I had been working on real-world tactics for us to execute together.
We were going to be a REAL movement, taking action in the world, making things happen.
But it didn’t happen. Yet.
Why not? I’ve been thinking, and planning, and correcting course. I don’t expect The Saners to be a perfect movement — nobody’s perfect — but it must become an effective one. It must start out on the right foot.
So, instead of proposing tactics, I’ve veered off for awhile. I’ve been reading. Talking with people. Thinking. Taking a break, a walk, and coming back and thinking some more. I’ve been writing notes to myself. Drawing. Doodling.
In addition to reading and re-reading writings about (and by) Gandhi and King, I’ve added Gene Sharp and CANVAS. I want to know what makes movements succeed.
Where We Are Going
There are some guidelines we will need to follow. And we need a clear vision and a way to get there. Tactics are not separate noise-making attention-getting protests. Everything is connected, part of the plan…
