With current technology, people should never need to work more than 15 hours a week to have all the necessities for a decent life.

Business are shedding workers. They are not needed. The notion that you need to earn money from an employer to simply stay alive is as outmoded as it is barbaric.

Modern medicine, productivity machines like 3D printers, new ways to provide inexpensive healthy food, etc.—scientists and engineers have brought the future to us.

But we are being held back by capitalism and communism and businessmen and politicians.

That said, climate catastrophe and the failure of these current systems to fight it will topple these systems and the people from power. And then our species can enter a new and better stage—IF we can battle back from climate catastrophe at this very late date.
