We could quadruple alternate energy and create ten thousand new nuclear power plants. It means nothing since we haven't been able--yet--to stop oil.

It's not demand that they problem. A sane society would have started a mad rush to eliminate fossil fuels at 1988 at the latest.

We've never begun. That is the issue.
