We need to replace the SOURCES of electricity, ending use of fossil fuels completely. Then, when electricity is produced without fossil fuels, we’ll finally get the benefit of EVs.

There would be no manufacturing emissions, etc.

Also, batteries are being improved and, sometime soon, won’t need lithium.

But yeah, the problem depends on killing fossil fuels themselves. EVs are much more useful once that happens.

Also, right now, we can continue and expand work from home, sharply cutting the historical use of cars for commuting.
