We sometimes have choices about systems. And sometimes we don’t. We live in the solar system. (I’m using this example because I know you love solar—as do I.) We didn’t have a choice about being born and living in this solar systems, although someday some of us may get to leave it.
But economic and political system—emergent though they are—are not laws of Nature. Unlike going faster than the speed of light, we can choose to disobey or change our economic and political systems.
I’m suggesting that we use morals—and in particular caring about people and Nature—to guide what changes we make to our systems, to choose systems that are compatible and supportive of living humanely and in accord with Nature.
I believe we are currently subsuming our better morals in support of bad systems. This, I believe, should be reversed.
