Well, I mean things like this: the taxpayer pays for the damage done by industry. Politicians never hold the wealthy corporate polluter responsible. Even when there’s a settlement that a corporation is forced to pay, it’s never enough to dissuade the company from continue performing similar damaging actions.
In other words, destroying the climate is always a net gain for the corporate eco-abuser. If the punishment fails to dissuade the crime, there is no accountability. It’s the same for plastic bottle makers as for fossil fuel extractors.
