Well, it’s obvious to billions of us that we are heading straight to extinction if we don’t change our ways. We were warned decades ago by climate scientists to slash our fossil fuel use quickly and sharply. Our leaders and the extractive economic system that uses the planet as on open pit toilet chose, instead, to INCREASE fossil fuel use.

Now we see the beginning of the consequences, and it’s only getting worse. The time for slow measured steps is long over, and the idea that we can simply tweak things and continue life as normal is ridiculous.

Now, we need to do what should have been done starting in the 1980s at the latest. Only now, we have no choice but to do it all at once because, as dreadful as that is, the alternative is turning Earth into Venus.

What people actually need is food, clothing and shelter.And each other and a habitable planet. We had those long before we had cars, and we can continue having them without cars.
