Well, our political and business losers, um “leaders” have intentionally expanded the use of fossil fuels for decades, despite having been warned of the consequences.

The institutional left and the radical left haven’t accomplished anything to thwart climate catastrophe. The system seems impervious to reform from within and too powerful to be overthrown.

So, we’re stuck. Or are we?

At this late date, there is one viable strategy. It might work or not, but it can and must be tried. It’s the strategy of sabotage—attacking the physical infrastructure and products of climate doom to MAKE FOSSIL FUELS A RISKY AND UNATTRACTIVE INVESTMENT. This is the idea outlined by activist Andreas Malm in his book How To Blow Up a Pipeline.

This is doable because it can be executed by a small number of people and expanded by inspiring uncontrollable copycats. From literally blowing up pipelines to keying SUVs, both the supply and demand sides of the fossil fuel market can be disrupted.

Sure, governments will strike back with brutality and violence. But if the acts are committed by a growing number of people and cannot be controlled, we may be able to make fossil fuels useless to investors—and just maybe we can save our children and grandchildren…and theirs.
