Well, there are lot of significant steps that can be taken without doing more damage than continuing on the path we are on now. The fastest most significant step would be immediately stopping work and production on anything not related to production of food, shelter and medicine and other actual necessities. Would that slash carbon emissions by 50%? By 80%? I don’t know. But much of what we produce is useless crap that we can do without.

In any case, it’s stupid to leave our survival to individual whims, to markets, or to systems snd leaders who o have failed catastrophically. Our best chance we be a conscious determined effort with our most qualified people—particularly climate scientists—in charge.
