Palestine, Sudan and what’s left of the world we are destroying.
We need to stop the killing in Gaza, and everywhere. WE need to do it because our leaders won’t. It’s not clear whether or not protesters will, either. They may do just that, OR they may just try to ensure that only THEIR side gets to kill. I like to assume the best about people, so I’m guessing the former.
The immediate crisis is to end Israeli attacks and provide immediate relief — food and medical care, and love — to the people of Gaza. Oh, and to return the hostages held by Hamas to their homes and families unharmed.
The No State Solution
Should Gaza be free? Should it be part of a free state of Palestine, living along side Israel?
I used to think so. Now I don’t think that anymore. I think the nation-state itself has outlived its usefulness. We still believe in nations because we see what can happen when there is no government — we see chaos and violence, like we have today in Sudan. I find it interesting that the crisis in Sudan, with literally millions of people subject to violence and starvation, receives almost no attention. We need to take action to save lives there, too. And in other places with unnecessary human suffering.
