What young people are walking away from are religious institutions. That is, they can't stomach religious authorities who speak for God.

Young people can read. Jesus said to love one another, turn the other cheek and even love your enemies. But religious authorities are always talking about gays, and abortion, and love of guns. They are selling their bigotry and attributing it to Jesus.

If that's religion and that's what God is about, young people SHOULD run away from it. If you want people to believe in God, don't waste time with syllogisms. Demand that religious institutions stop acting like greedy self-righteous bigots and start following what Jesus actually preached.
