Who, indeed? But it is not the author who is engineering the coming collapse. It’s the people and systems in charge. They are incapable of dealing with the climate devastation that they have created and continue to support.

When it becomes clear to most people that the people in charge—capitalists, communists, democracies and totalitarians—are incapable of even saving our species from extinction, their “authority” will disappear. Few will believe or follow them.

Maybe we need to come to terms with this sooner rather than later. Can WE force the sharp curtailing of CO2 emissions? Or will we obediently go along with the architects of death.
