Who is a Christian?

If a Christian is any person who professes to believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ, then pretty much anyone who claims to be a Christian is one.

However, what if that same person openly opposes those teachings? What if the “believer” insists that Jesus’ words mean whatever the believer decides they mean?

To my mind, someone who rejects the clear lesson of the Parable of the Good Samaritan or the Sermon on the Mount is not a Christian.

Someone who looks for bible quotes — and often not even quotes from Jesus — to justify their own cruelty, hatred or fear is not a Christian. In fact, that person who justifies his own cruelty by using this technique is the worst possible blasphemer.

He is rejecting Christ and putting his own prejudices into Jesus’ mouth. He is polluting Jesus’ words while stealing His good name.

One might call such a person an anti-Christ.

If you want to embody your religion as a Christian, you must model your behavior after Him — someone who led with love, healed the sick, fed the hungry, cared for the poor.

As a Christian, inspired by Jesus, you can only have one target for your anger: the wealthy. The only people that angered Jesus were the wealthy moneylenders.

Now look around you — and behold the Christians and the anti-Christs. It’s quite easy to tell them apart.
