Why Authorities Must Prove Their Legitimacy — Or Go Away

Holding positions of power or influence does not guarantee that people will follow, obey or support. The authorities must demonstrate they deserve their positions.

We know that authorities get their positions in questionable ways. Wealthy individuals and corporations provide significant assistance and support to candidates and officeholders — in exchange for favors.

In some cases, the favor is protection of fossil fuel companies as they destroy the ecosphere for profit. In other words, leaders everywhere in politics, business, the justice system and more are subject to significant influence — often bordering on control — by the people who are ruining the climate and dooming your children and grandchildren. And, I might add, even their own.

Why on Earth would we recognize or support these authorities, or the corrupt systems that empower them to destroy the people and planet that we love?

Leaders Must Straighten Up and Fly Right!

Legally, fossil fuel companies (and other wealthy influence peddlers) can give money and support to politicians and even judges anonymously. Why would they want to do it anonymously?

Because if we all see clearly what’s happening, it demonstrates that those influence…
