It’s about not wasting time.
At the most basic level, I respect all human beings because we all share a common humanity and a common experience. Like it or not, we really are all one. And, though some behave very badly trying to take advantage of others, even the bad people are mortal and die just as surely as their most abused victims.
Although people’s bad instincts are most visible today, I am convinced that most of us are fundamentally kind, that we care about each other, our children and their futures. For this very reason, we are angry, scared, confused and largely in denial.
We are paralyzed because we feel powerless and do not know what to do. We are horrified watching climate collapse, disease, murder and mayhem break out everywhere. Our leaders are either incompetent or uninterested in fixing these problem. They seem clueless.
While all this is going on, I sometimes hear from people who think that the climate isn’t becoming dangerously hostile, or argues about who’s fault it is, or says it’s too late to do anything. The outright climate deniers are the biggest waste of time. They have lost touch with reality entirely. They are fighting a foolish battle that already been lost. They are essentially flat Earthers.
I have no time for them.
