On January 6, 2021, millions saw a mob break into the Capitol while Congress was in the process of certifying the election of Joe Biden as president. The mob, with their violent attacks, successfully disrupted the proceedings. They temporarily prevented the United States government from completing its Constitutional duties.
That they ultimately failed to prevent Biden from attaining the office he was elected to, and that Trump failed to seize power past the end of his term in office is irrelevant. That was an insurrection and, according the the 14th amendment, no elected official who so much as offered comfort to the insurrectionists is eligible to hold office.
That is, nearly every GOP member of the United States House and Senate, and a large number of state and local officials — pretty much anyone who took an oath to protect the Constitution and supported the insurrection in any way — were legally out of office by January 7, 2021. Sadly, nearly all of those people remain in office.
That said, as citizens we should, and I believe MUST assert ourselves and let our representative know that every vote taken that passed with these illegal “representatives” is invalid and a direct violation of our Constitution. And, that we object to these violations.
When and if we are ever able to re-assert our influence in what is supposed to be our own government, we must invalidate and reverse every ruling made that “passed” (sic) with these invalid and illegal votes.
While the media and politicians of both parties ignore this very important fact—that those who aided (and in many cases continue to aid) insurrectionists are holding office and “voting” illegally, I think it’s critical to note that we the people can read and that the rule book — in the 14th amendment —and says this:
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.
I’d also like to note that Donald Trump, after he publicly thanked the insurrectionists, was no longer legally president. From January 7th to January 20th 2021, Mike Pence was Constitutionally the President of the United States. During that period, Donald Trump continued to illegally hold office. So, every presidential action Trump took during that period — for example, pardons —are also invalid.
These are huge wrongs and I personally will never keep silent about them. I will pass this information along to my own representative in Congress and request that he speak about this on the floor of that body. He is a Democrat, serving legally, who has offered no help to insurrectionists. So, he actually IS my Congress person.
