Won’t Trump Be Surprised, Angry, Impotent and Jailed When VP Harris Refuses To Certify His Election?

That pesky Constitution.

Imagine.

Trump lost the popular vote again (as he always does) but he wins in the electoral college. Congress meets to certify the vote with the Vice President presiding.

Kamala Harris opens the session with this statement.

“Good afternoon.”

“Every one of us in this chamber took an oath of allegiance to the United States Constitution. We are sworn to protect it. I want to read you a passage from our governing document. Please forgive me for this. As elected members of this body, I assume that you are intimately familiar with the contents of the Constitution, but the public watching at home may not be.”

“Section 3 of the 14th amendment says this:”

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

“On January 6, 2021, millions of people watched on television as Donald J. Trump encouraged and incited a violent insurrection, an attack on the Capitol, to prevent the certification of a newly elected president. I saw, with my own eyes, this terrible and unconstitutional act.”

“Think about the words of the amendment. To be disqualified for office, one need not take part in a rebellion. One is disqualified for even providing—and I quote—‘aid or comfort’—to insurrections. On that awful day we saw Donald Trump publicly declare to the insurrectionists that he loved them.”

“Due to my oath of office, and my dedication to the United States of America, I cannot preside over a session that illegally puts a disqualified candidate into the White House. I declare this session to be adjourned.”

Now, it seems probable that this would be brought before the Supreme Court, and now that the formerly judicial body is simply a wing of the GOP, Trump would still be given the presidency.

But Harris would have her hands clean of that abomination. And WE would have the opportunity to show the nation and the world how true freedom-loving people would act in a crisis.

Unlike the violent mob of 2021, the ordinary Americans of 2025 would simply refuse to cooperate. They would stay home from work, not buy anything except necessities and tell anyone who asks that they will never recognize an insurrectionist as president.

Just as they would never follow Jefferson Davis or Robert E. Lee, they will never follow Donald Trump. Until justice is served, this nation is and will remain shut down. We saw during COVID who the essential workers are and when the essential workers refuse to work, the country is closed.

No leader has any power without the active cooperation and support of the people. We can withdraw our support at any time. Under those circumstances, that’s exactly what patriots will do.
