World’s Fairs were also social events. You brought your family and met people from all over the country and perhaps the world. And certain exhibits would make an indelible impression on you—you’d remember your entire life. People first saw television and robots at a World’s Fair in 1939! I went in to the 1964-65 World’s Fair and the giant Unisphere is STILL THERE in Flushing Meadow Park. Yes, they are products of the flawed societies that created them…but they still had some marvelous things about them. They are one of the better aspects of (overall) foolish civilizations. It’s a shame they are gone.
