Yes. Failure is always possible and sometimes the odds are long. But your chances are zero without trying. Personally, I like to speak directly to the powerful—person to person—trying to focus on what motivates them. I often urge powerful people who oppose action on the climate catastrophe to think about their children and grandchildren. And to remember that todays heatwaves, wildfires and killer hurricanes are the Garden of Eden compared to what’s coming next—unless people in positions of power and influence reverse course NOW.

In other words, my strategy is to tell the truth, but with empathy.
