As you have discovered, talented people can also be deeply flawed people.

I’m Jewish and Shakespeare create Fagen—a character that’s a cartoonish anti-Semitic stereotype.

One of my favorite people, a recently deceased physicist Freeman Dyson, disputed the seriousness of our climate problems. Yet he was undeniably a truly kind person and a gentleman. Eric Clapton, who is clearly a talented guitarist and seems like a pleasant person opposes the COVID vaccine.

People are rarely universally good or bad. That said, Kipling—who certainly knew how to write—seems much worse a person than Shakespeare.

My view is that, if you can, enjoy the good any person has done and oppose the bad.
