You don’t need to approve of a position to understand it. Also, in most cases, when you attribute evil intent to someone, you are likely to be mistaken.

You support libertarianism and so you see things through a libertarian viewpoint. The same is true of leftists. They may or may not be mistaken. And, as you have noted, leftists are not a monolithic unified group. That’s one reason you are having trouble understanding them. “They” disagree with each other on many things—often angrily.

Also, some people are more articulate than others. Maybe look for someone who writes clearly and you’ll better understand at least some leftist views. You don’t need to agree! But I always think things are better when we understand, rather than talk past each other.
