Your pessimism is, I believe, well founded. But since we don't really know to what extent we can reduce the severity of the tragedy we are facing, I believe we should TRY WITH ALL WE'VE GOT!
Why predict the future? What's the point? Prediction is fraught with opportunity to be terribly wrong. And whether you are right or wrong, it makes no real difference.
I'm committed to trying. Anyone who wants to join with me is very, VERY welcome! I believe we can overwhelm existing "authorities", empower climate scientists to do their part, engage in serious de-growth, end fossil fuels, ramp up clean energy, minimize production overall and replace our unsustainable with a better, more realistic and humane one.
